The Group was founded in 1963 with the opening of ‘The Mandarin’ in Hong Kong. In 1974, the Group acquired 49% of Bangkok’s famous historic hotel, ‘The Oriental’, and the brand Mandarin Oriental was born.

Over the past fifty-five years, the Group has grown from its Asian roots into a global brand, operating in major cities and resort destinations, with a strong pipeline of properties under development.
