Location
Rangiroa is located in the Tuamotu archipelago and is situated 340 km northeast of Tahiti. The island is made up of over 240 small motus (islets) in the shape of a ring. The crystal-clear water and different depths of the lagoon offer an array of blue colors.
The volcanic Tuamotu islands have no mountains since they are older and have sunken into the ocean. They are called atolls and offer a much drier climate than the higher mountainous islands.

The village of Avatoru is located on the western end of the main 12 kilometre islet. On the other end between the airport and the famous Tiputa Pass you will find the Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa. The map specially designed for the hotel guests gives an overview of the Avatoru village and its main points of interest.

The resort is located on a motu (islet) about 10 km long, between the Avatoru and Tiputa passes. Rangiroa forms a circular strip between 200 to 300 meters wide. On one side is the lagoon and its turquoise waters and on the other side the deep blue ocean, creating a breathtakingly vast landscape. The colorful waters of Rangiroa and their exceptional coral environment are real treasures offering an abundant variety of marine life.
