Adventure at your doorstep

Here, in the UNESCO-designated Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve, the environment is truly, gloriously, authentically wild, and opportunities for adventure, education and natural enrichment, are as abundant as the temperate rainforest. Clayoquot Wilderness Resort is located at the very centre of the biosphere, at the northeast end of an 11-kilometre-long deep-water fjord in Bedwell Sound, at the mouth of the Bedwell River. Your 600-acre adventure playground.

Six categories of adventure – equestrian, marine-based, land-based, heli-ventures, restorative and fishing – delivered by qualified wilderness guides and operators, using state-of-the-art equipment and technology on-board certified vessels, ensure extraordinary, authentic adventure in regulated, low-risk environments.

All three, four and seven-night packages include dozens of equestrian, fresh water, salt water, and restorative activities for guests of all ages, experience levels, and inclinations. All adventures, activities, gear, equipment and enthusiasm are resort owned and operated, so guests can get where they want, when they want – weather permitting.

Choose from a menu of half-day and full-day activities and/or combine these with camp-based activities, for a truly custom program of adventure that unfolds at the pace and excitement level of your choosing. And don’t forget spa and doing nothing at all. Restoring your Zen, and topping-up your nature deficit are as important as getting up close (enough) and personal with black bear munching crab on the foreshore. Contact us for more details

Healing Grounds Spa

The Healing Grounds Spa promises physical and spiritual sanctuary, yoga, wellness, and restorative treatments for body and soul. A secluded compound of treatment rooms, yoga room, waterfront massage tents, cedar hot tubs, wet-dry saunas and tranquil outdoor lounge space dictates healing and wellness initiatives on-sight, and remotely – in perfect, peaceful isolation.

A large waterfront deck, warmed by the sun and cooled by ocean breezes, invites lounging and post-treatment napping. Three round cedar hot tubs, filled to the brim with steamy pure spring water, boast the best seats in the house. By day, for bird and foreshore wildlife watching. By night, for looking up through the layers of millions of stars in the inky Clayoquot sky.

Two saunas, built from foraged old-growth cedar and heated by wood-burning stoves, provide percussive quiet and sweetly-scented restorative warmth – wet or dry, as you wish. The view sauna, with is beautiful picture window overlooking the tidal estuary, is best enjoyed when the rainforest rages and the clouds burst. Total immersion.
